...for your sympathetic comments.  i should really just suck it up but i can't help complaining.  but it seems normal given your reaction so thank you for letting my inner whine shout to the high skies.

i feel like sharing some personal goodies here today.

first pic is the wallpaper installed in our bedroom.  it's just one wall because the room is small and i didn't want to be engulfed in peonies.  but the gold is subtle enough to not feel overwhelming and i think it's perfect.

side note:  the paris poster is from... paris.  i asked my sister to get me a 'vintage map' during her most recent trip there.  sure, in the bottom right corner it says 'made in korea'... but she carted it across the ocean and then some for me, so it gets a prominent place in our home.

the next two pics are of the nursery.  our biggest contribution to the room are the prints and the frames.  oh, and the crib, which you don't see.  

everything else - books, shoes, baby clothes, baby stuff - are mostly hand me downs or gifts.

i was going back and forth between getting a fake tree and a real tree this year.  we had a real one last year and it was nice.  nothing against it.  just considering my options.

the fake tree i wanted was sold out so i was like 'ok, let's get a real tree'.

my sister (in town from NY) came with me to a tree farm last week so we could pick one out.  we spent about 10 minutes selecting the perfect 4.5 footer.

but lo and behold.  neither of us could carry it.  i was like 'don't look at me.  i'm pregs.' and she was like 'i can't do it.  it's heavy.' so it was a fail.

and then this weekend FLEW by and my husband and i had zero time to pick up a tree.

and i kind of feel like this past weekend would've been the last to pick up a tree without feeling like it was a waste.

so while he was at work today, i did this.

can't wait for him to come home and make fun of me.  whatever.  i need my tree.

squares.

i have all these random squares leftover from when i created this board [pre-preggo project.  and yes, everything in my life is now categorized as pre-preggo, whilst-preggo, and eventually post-preggo.  just the way it is.]  i exacto-knifed 48 squares from a thickish matte board to create the frame for each 3x3 picture.  it was hell.

at the end of it all, i was left with 48 square cutouts [and without feeling in my fingies] and didn't want to just throw away my blood, sweat and tears.  so i've kept them for all these months waiting for the perfect project.

lo and behold, i found the answer when i googled something like 'paint project diy squares'.

this was done with paint swatches.  i plan to watercolor each of my squares to get a similar effect.

should kill about 2 hours.  scoresies.

my current story:  i'm a stay at home preggos person.  first trimester kicked my ass and i ended up resigning from a new job i had started just 3 weeks in.  srsly.  it was a huge blow to my ego and i have yet to really get over it, especially since i have, oh, about 30 hours of free time a day to do nothing but think about things over and over again whilst the little bean plays punching bag with my other organs.  thankfully, i'm in much better condition now but it's kind of like, now what.  like what do i with all this time until baby joins this world.

enter: spend $$ and redecorate the house.  yeah, that's right.  to my husband's dismay, my new time-consuming project (other than blog stalking you) is filling our small house with more stuff.  yesss.  who's with me.  i mean, it all began innocently enough because, hello, we needed to make up our nursery because, i mean, that's just what everyone does.  but then it started spilling over into all areas of the house. what's that saying: leave no stone unturned? something like that.

so this past week, west elm had a sale on their rugs.  so, naturally, i bought several.

 the alyson fox stencil rug.

the marquis rug.

and you know about the wallpaper.  next up, some furniture, some lighting, some frames, some prints to go in the frames, and et cetera (which is all spelled out because i have a feeling the et cetera items will be pretty hefty.)

yes, i'm totally into hair perms and all but this isn't about that.  i'm talking about something else ... a maj commitment ... with no turning back.  [well, not without spending bucks.]

it's permanent.  but i don't care.  i love it.  i love it so much.

i already have some up in my kitchen/ dining area and i just got some new rolls for our bedroom.
